Remit Monthly and Quarterly Withholding
Last updated: 2026-07-09 Summary:
- Withholding you collect has to reach the BIR on a monthly-plus-quarterly rhythm — eKapital assembles each return from the withholding already recorded on your payments and payroll.
- Expanded withholding: 0619-E for months 1 and 2 of the quarter; 1601-EQ (with the QAP alphalist) at quarter-end. Compensation withholding: 1601-C monthly. Final taxes: 0619-F / 1601-FQ.
- eKapital prepares and records the figures; you file and pay in eBIRForms or eFPS.
Remittance is the “money actually reaches the BIR” half of withholding — the certificates (2307/2316/2306) are the other half. eKapital pulls each remittance return from the same withholding records behind your payments and pay runs, so the return, the alphalist, and the certificates all tie to one source. You file in eBIRForms/eFPS; eKapital gets the figures ready and keeps the record.
The remittance rhythm
Section titled “The remittance rhythm”Withholding runs on a months-1-and-2-plus-quarter cadence:
- Months 1 and 2 of each quarter — expanded withholding (0619-E). Remit what you withheld from suppliers. Month 3 isn’t filed on a 0619 — it rolls into the quarterly return.
- Every month — compensation withholding (1601-C). The tax you withheld from employee pay.
- Quarter-end — expanded / final (1601-EQ / 1601-FQ). The quarterly return picks up month 3 and reconciles the whole quarter, with the Quarterly Alphalist of Payees (QAP) attached.
Prepare an expanded-withholding remittance (0619-E)
Section titled “Prepare an expanded-withholding remittance (0619-E)”- Go to Tax → BIR Forms and open Form 0619-E.
- Pick the month (only the filable months — 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 — appear; month 3 of each quarter consolidates into the quarterly return). The header shows the deadline, or a green Filed badge once recorded.
- Review the totals and the per-ATC breakdown, which come from the expanded withholding recorded on your vendor payments. If this is a correction, use the amended-return fields (prior remittance, surcharge, interest, compromise).
- Preview, then Download PDF for your records.
- File and pay in eBIRForms/eFPS, then use Record as Filed — enter the BIR confirmation number so the form is marked filed.
Prepare a compensation remittance (1601-C)
Section titled “Prepare a compensation remittance (1601-C)”Open Form 1601-C and pick the month. eKapital shows the tax withheld, employee count, and compensation totals from your pay runs as a summary. Compensation remittance is filed through BIR eFPS — use the summary to key or verify your eFPS return, and the BIR Export Hub for supporting alphalists.
Prepare a quarterly return (1601-EQ / 1601-FQ)
Section titled “Prepare a quarterly return (1601-EQ / 1601-FQ)”- Open the quarterly form (for final taxes, Form 1601-FQ) and choose the quarter.
- eKapital auto-fills the month-1 and month-2 remittances from your saved monthly filings (shown with an auto-filled tag you can override), and builds the Alphalist of Payees for the quarter.
- Run Validate — the pre-filing check flags missing TINs, ATC issues, or profile gaps. Validation errors block the downloads until fixed.
- Download the QAP .DAT (the alphalist in BIR’s wire format) and the PDF, then file in eBIRForms/eFPS with the QAP attached.
Where people get tripped up
Section titled “Where people get tripped up”- Filing a 0619 for month 3. There isn’t one — month 3 is absorbed by the quarterly return. eKapital only offers the filable months.
- A QAP that doesn’t tie to the return. The alphalist total must equal the return figure. Generating both from the same posted data is what keeps them in agreement — don’t hand-edit the .DAT.
- “Record as Filed” isn’t filing. Recording the confirmation number marks your eKapital copy as filed; the actual submission still happens in eBIRForms/eFPS.
- Certificates are separate from remittance. Remitting doesn’t issue the supplier’s or employee’s certificate. Issue the 2307 to vendors, the 2316 to employees, and the 2306 for final taxes.
- Deadlines. File by the date eKapital shows; monthly remittances are typically due the 10th of the following month and the quarterly returns the last day of the month after the quarter. Confirm on the BIR filing deadlines checklist.
