Send a Customer a Pay Link

Last updated: 2026-07-09 Summary:

  • Any Sent, Viewed, Partial, or Overdue invoice can mint a public pay link — click Get pay link and copy it.
  • The customer opens a branded page (no login), sees the totals and EWT-net amount due, and pays via PayMongo hosted checkout.
  • Paid invoices keep the link working as a receipt. This is the single home for sharing a payment link.

The pay link is the one way to share an invoice for online payment. Emailing an invoice embeds the same link, so both routes lead here.

  1. Open the invoice. It must be Sent, Viewed, Partial, Overdue, or Paid to be shareable.
  2. Click Get pay link. eKapital generates (or reuses) a public URL of the form /public/invoice/{token}.
  3. The Public Pay Link row appears with the URL and a Copy button. Paste it into a message, or email the invoice to send the link plus a scannable QR code automatically.

Minting a link is idempotent — clicking again returns the same link — and is not gated on PayMongo, so you can share a viewable invoice even before you connect a gateway (the Pay button just won’t appear until it’s connected).

The public page needs no account. It shows:

  • Your business name and the invoice number, with a status tag.
  • Invoice details (bill-to, invoice date, due date) and the line items.
  • A Summary: subtotal, any discount, VAT, and total.
  • If the invoice is subject to expanded withholding tax, an EWT breakdown ending in Net Amount Due, plus a note asking the customer to issue BIR Form 2307.
  • A Pay button showing the amount to collect (the EWT-net amount when applicable), which opens PayMongo hosted checkout — card, GCash, GrabPay, or Maya.
  • A Download Invoice (PDF) button and a “Powered by eKapital” footer.

After paying, the customer returns to the page, which polls until it shows a green paid banner. A Paid invoice keeps the link live so the customer can revisit it as a receipt.

  • No Pay button on the page. The invoice is shareable but the merchant gateway isn’t connected or enabled. See Connect your PayMongo account.
  • Trying to share a draft or voided invoice. Draft, void, and written-off invoices aren’t shareable — the link returns “not found.” Post and send the invoice first.
  • Expecting partial payment online. The public page collects the full net balance due; partial online payments aren’t offered. Record partial receipts manually — see Receive a customer payment.
